Commitment to your goals!

Today's post is about commitment! When we get married or are in a serious relationship, we nurture it and work through things that are hard or stressful and usually we don't want to do it. This is equally related to fitness. When you don't want to workout or you are tempted by all of the foods out there that we know we shouldn't eat, remember that you've committed to this new lifestyle in the same way you would commit your life to someone else. You've made the conscious decision to commit, to yourself, and to the program. It's not always easy, there will be challenges! But....if it was easy wouldn't all of America be fit? All we can do is encourage others to lead a better lifestyle than they are now and to make conscious choices in what they eat which in turn will equal BIG results!

I'd also like to take a minute in this post to recognize one of my current challengers, Kristin Trumpie!  She is a prime example of what I was just talking about above! She sent me an email today that truly touched my heart! This is what she wrote:

I know that everyone's body is different from mine, it's just hard to accept that sometimes.  I guess I just expected more inches because I feel like I have lost a lot more than I really did.  My clothes  fit better and most of my scrubs hang on me. I'm also  fitting into my smaller sizes.  I do feel great, so much stronger.  It's amazing how much I have changed in 30 some days!! I love, I meant LOVE to eat, so It's crazy to me when my fiance wants to order out or make something that isn't healthy so healthy and I decline!  I used to jump at the opportunity! Now I just tell him that I can't eat it and he'll be like "you can eat whatever you want as long as you workout".  I stand my ground and still decline!  I only have one cheat day a week and I don't even like to cheat then and sometimes don't.  I'm sure I will sometimes.  I just don't want all of my hard work to go to waste!! I'm proud of myself and the changes that I have accomplished!  I never thought I would be doing this good!!  I'm very grateful that you never gave up on me.  I know I've told you that several times, but I truly mean it!  Thank you for being a fantastic coach!  There is no doubt that you are making a difference in my life.

I am so honored to be a part of her journey! This is why I became a coach! This is what I needed to hear today! Thanks you Kristin!

Well it is Tuesday which last week was 'Tude Tuesday but for this week I figured I would just write about the running club that we are a part of on Tuesdays. It is at Jack Quinn's in downtown Colorado Springs and is a weekly 5k. I don't know about all of you but I am not a "runner". I am actually just trying to hate it LESS. If you know me, you know that this is the case because I am constantly saying the same thing. I want to hate it less. Who knows, maybe it will turn into love <3 ? Well...I don't want to push it that far but....maybe. One never knows. I may be a Beachbody Coach and I may do workouts at home, but it is nice to get outside and be a part of nature. So here goes nothing!

Today on this Memorial Day we may all be attending BBQ's, doing things around the house, planting flowers or spending time with friends and family. I hope that you didn't have to work today but if you did you just might be an American soldier. My husband is a Wounded Warrior and a retired Army Veteran. Memorial Day has more than just a little sentiment for us. This weekend 2 years ago is when he deployed to Afghanistan. It is hard to watch the news and see the slideshow of local soldiers who didn't make it home. It very well could have been him.

I wanted to post today about my hike of 5.5 miles up in the mountains and how beautiful it is here in Colorado and how I loved just having the day off. But, after watching the 6:00 news and seeing the men who didn't return home, I thought it is only right as a spouse of a Wounded Warrior to honor the men and women in our military today and say THANK YOU. Thank you for missing your holidays with your family, thank you for missing the birth of your children, the deaths of loved ones, the moments that make memories in our lives. Thank you for sacrificing. Thank you for volunteering and signing up to defend this great nation of ours. Thank you for protecting us from the threats that are out there. You are loved and appreciated. I have no other or better words other than THANK YOU!

Happy Friday! Going into this holiday weekend where there will no doubt be junk food galore....try to remember that you pushed through your workouts all week and ate clean not just to throw it all out the window at a picnic!
There are some healthy options usually at gatherings and if not, bring your own : ) Have a great weekend everyone!

So for THIRSTY THURSDAY.....Let's talk about water! How much water do you drink normally? None? You only drink soda or coffee or energy drinks? AHHHHHH! This is no good! How much water should you be drinking? Well the rule of thumb is to be drinking half of your body weight in ounces per day of water! I have this trusty water bottle pictured below that holds 32 oz so I only need to drink 3 of them! I usually drink more though because it is so dry here in CO that I feel like I need extra. Water is good for everything! It is great for your skin too! I could go on a rant here about Shakeology too but I will save that for another night! Happy Friday tomorrow!

In the last installment of 'Tude Tuesday I will say this: this quote could not be more accurate. We really do have to learn a new way to THINK before we can BE the best we can BE. It sounds corny but it is so true! How can we expect to BE anything different than what we already are if we aren't shifting our mindset and the way we think. I know tonight when I was running at Jack Quinn's running club I was psyching myself out saying "I can't run anymore, I can't breath, my calves hurt...." But I just pushed those thoughts to the side and kept going just a little further. And when I really couldn't run anymore I walked fast, caught my breath and then started running again because my overall goal is to run the entire 5k by the end of the summer. I shifted my thinking and pushed the negativity aside and kept going! What is one thing you want to change in your life? What is it that you want to BE? Now, think about how you are going to change the way you think and what you are going to do to get there! I am happy to help and encourage you all the way! photo sig10_zps541eb646.png

For the 2nd installment of 'Tude Tuesday....Let's talk about fear....What are you afraid of outside of the stereotypical fears like spiders, heights and the dark? What are those fears that are part of the bigger picture? Are you afraid of failure? Is that why you don't start anything new? Are you afraid of judgment? Guess what?! We judge ourselves way worse than anyone else ever could ! Let it go, stop judging yourself and comparing yourself to others! Life is too short! We have control over our fears and that is such an amazing thing! Be the BEST YOU that YOU can BE!

A lot of other beachbody coaches post transformations on Tuesdays and sometimes I do to...but today, I'm switching it up and calling today 'tude Tuesday! When we start our fitness and health journey we have to first and foremost change our ...attitude towards it! I was talking to a friend yesterday about this. How can we expect to see results if we don't put the work into it? There is no quick fix, there is no one who can get you started on the right track other than you. And it starts from within. We have to change our mindset about weight loss and get rid of the quick fix, poor me, I can't do it attitude! Once we do that, the rest is cake!

ok maybe not cake but its definitely half the battle! So on this first of many 'Tude Tuesday posts, my call to action for you is to change your mindset about something! Look at something a little differently than you used to or just try To see a different point of view on something that you are stuck in your ways about. This is about exercising your brain not your body! Make it a great day!

So today I went to the movies with my husband and some friends. Since I know already that my biggest weakness there is popcorn....I did the unthinkable! I brought my own. Popcornopolis Nearly Naked Popcorn! It is so delicious and not that bad! You can eat a whole cup of it and it is only 60 calories!
I am a big fan of endorsing products that A) I love and B) are good-ish for you! I get excited knowing I can still go tot he movies and have popcorn without all the sodium, cholesterol and saturated fats! I also brought some trail mix that had some m&m's in it to satisfy my sweet tooth! How was your weekend?

Hello Blog world! Happy Friday Eve! I was about to post a recipe in the recipe section when my husband so graciously pointed out "how can you post recipes you haven't tried?" So...I am going to be trying a lot of recipes in a short amount of time! Although, I do have some that I can post that I have tried. I just have to dig them up. I will say this though....tonight for dinner we had chicken sausage stuffed with feta and spinach and had a side salad and some pasta. The sausage was from Whole Foods and was delicious! Be on the lookout for recipes soon! Today was a 30 minute workout with Brazil Butt Lift and then almost 2 hours of working in the yard/planting flowers so I definitely feel the burn today! What did you do today?

First blog post...EVER

Well....Here goes nothing. My first blog post EVER. To be forever saved in the world of the Internet!
As you all know by the name of my blog, this is a fitness blog. I am a Beachbody Coach and love helping others achieve their fitness goals. Do you have a goal that seems unreachable or unrealistic? Do you feel like maybe you just don't know where to start? I felt that way too at the beginning. Even with just this blogging thing. I figure, I will just jump off the deep end and see what happens. What is the worst that can happen? It gets posted in the wrong place? Learn as I go has been a life motto for me. You just can't get too caught up in the details or doing it right the first time or every time. You can't expect to workout one day and be fit and slim and trim the next. It takes time, dedication, and conscious changes. You can't expect physical changes in your body if you aren't consciously changing what goes in your mouth!  I am here as a guide to help you keep on track, as well as help me STAY on track. Being a coach means helping you help yourself and along the way, I help me too! I am excited to start this journey into the world of blogging....Ready? Set. Go!
